StAND YouthStAND Youth is the Youth Ministry here at St. Andrew's Henderson.
We start at Year 9 all the way up to university ages and beyond. We meet every second Sunday during school terms. Our Youth Leadership team - Ite Lemalu, Albe Mase, Papua Taumate, Nellie Taumate, Onosai Nanai, Ashleigh Hemana & Steel Purcell along with the help of their dedicated Elder, Alby Tuuga Stevenson, would love to meet you and support you in your faith journey through singing and performing, through sharing our personal stories and from studying the Word. Our Youth host a morning worship service each year, and contribute to the life of the Church by helping out at working bees, fundraising for our Church (LOUD! Concerts 2015 & 2017), offering prayers for our Faithbuilders and others, as well as helping out everywhere and anywhere we can! We'd love for you to join us, everyone is welcome! The meaning behind our name..."The boy looked like a corpse, and everyone said, "He is dead!" But Jesus took the boy by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up." (Mark 9:26-27)
"He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha, koum," which means, "little girl, I tell you to get up!" She got up at once and started walking around." (Mark 5:41-42) "Jesus said, 'Young man! Get up I tell you!' The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother." (Luke 7:14-15) As a youth group we are encouraged by the Good News of Jesus Christ for all who will receive Him. To StAND up means to respond to Jesus' call to us to follow Him. In the scripture passages above, in order to "get well" each person must respond in action - in taking Jesus' hand and "getting up." We want to commit to this for our lives as young people growing in Christ Jesus. ... StAND YOUTH from St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Henderson |
