We have 3 celebrations this weekend beginning tonight at 6:30p.m. with our "Last Supper"
Passover meal. Our Good Friday service is at 9:30a.m. tomorrow and we have our Easter service at the usual time of 9:30a.m. on Sunday. Whatever your plans are this weekend, stay safe, stay well and give thanks. Last night (30 Jan 2013) we celebrated the ordination and induction of the Reverend Gary Mauga. The church was packed with Gary's family, friends and colleagues and, of course, our congregation. The service was led by the Rev. Fakaofo Kaio, Moderator of Northern Presbytery, and we enjoyed a sermon by the Rev Sun M Lee. Many thanks to all involved in making this such a joyous occasion.
Late last year our Ministry Settlement Board nominated Gary Mauga for the position of minister of St Andrews and in December the congregation voted overwhelmingly in favour of accepting the call. Gary is a recent graduate of Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership. Gary's ordination and induction will take place on Wednesday 30th January 2013 at St Andrew's Church.
Our AGM will follow the service on 14 October 2012. You can read this year's reports here ...

She will then go to begin her new ministry as Secretary for the Pacific Region (covering 8 countries and 9 churches) for the Council for World Mission. Fei will be dedicated at the CWM World Assembly in Pago Pago in American Samoa in June.
A commissioning/induction service will be held for the Pacific Region in Auckland in July at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Papatoetoe. Date to be advised. Easter is 3 short weeks away. I am including information about our services and activities in this week's order.

Wow, I've been a bit remiss. No postings since the Centenary back in July. What a fantastic weekend that was! If you haven't already done so, check out the photos under the Centenary tab and on our Facebook page.
Our Hall floor was finally replaced last week. Alan Bussey and his team have done a fantastic job. It looks great! Well done, Alan. The original plan to allow donors to inscribe their names under the varnish was scrapped some time ago as there was no easy way to manage the uniformity of inscriptions. Names will now go on a wall plaque once spellings have been triple-checked. Our newly formed Kids Friendly team have begun work with the children on a special Christmas service in December. If you are able to help with costumes, props, set dressings, food (for the dress rehearsal) or music making please let me know asap and I will relay your willingness to the team. |
